Following World War I and the overthrow of Czar Nicholas II, Russia engaged in a civil war. The Red Army of the Bolsheviks emerged victorious in 1920, leading to the Bolshevik Revolution where art and design flourished. Experimental typography, straightforward pictorial designs, and political messages and ideology defined these designs.
My first in-restaurant dining experience since the start of the pandemic probably looked a lot like yours. Tables were spaced extra far apart, and partitions were added between booths as an extra layer of protection. Anyone waiting to be seated had to do so outside, and once in, everyone was masked, unless of course you were eating.
We spend our entire school experience on a path of categories. As a preschooler, we learn shapes, colors and numbers. In third grade, we learn how to write in cursive. In high school, we read To Kill a Mockingbird, The Great Gatsby, or other well-known classics.
Job searching is stressful, draining, and demeaning. Throw a pandemic into the mix and it’s exponentially harder. When you’re a recent graduate, especially during these times, it’s easy to feel hopeless and defeated. Don’t give up!
When Sweeney’s new Integrated Marketing Associate, Dominique Buchanan, graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2020, she knew she would pursue a career in marketing. In fact, she’s known that since sixth grade. Gone are the days where private label means low price but lacking in quality. For decades, store brands primarily focused on positioning themselves as better value, paying little mind to developing their own visual identities. In response to consumers’ growing interest in healthier foods and greater transparency, retailers have started developing sophisticated flavors and packaging for their in-house brands.
“What about trying the new wing place?” A conversation with my neighbor over where to order dinner started like that. “What new wing place?” I answered. I tend to zero in on new restaurants, and that one had escaped me.
