When you think of technology, what brand comes to mind first?
In our daily lives, technology is an essential tool. We use phones, tablets, laptops, smart watches (and the list goes on). But the most interesting part is how all of them combine different features. You can work remotely; you can make calls and listen to music, you can order food within five minutes, book your flight, research anything, anytime, pretty much anywhere. And we have many pioneering technology brands to thank for that.
We asked Anastasiia, a senior in high school who recently completed a senior project with us, her favorite brand and why. We will give you a hint – just think different.
Sweeney: So, what is your favorite brand and why?
Anastasiia: Hi! If we started talking about technologies, I would say it is Apple. It became so popular over the last 20 years, and I love it for its features. Every update brings something new and special, so the users never get bored. The products last for a long time and make your life so much easier. Also, the look. The way Apple presents their products and the way they look. If you just go to the store and take a look at it, you’re done. You know what you want and you’re ready to buy it.
Sweeney: Very true. Do you interact with the brand somehow?
Anastasiia: Yes, of course, I do! I used to have it in my daily life. Actually, I can’t even imagine my day without it. I use my MacBook for school. It’s very convenient; I do all my assignments on it, also all my research, and it’s just so easy to use.
My phone, which I literally use most of the day (I don’t think I have to explain this one) but it’s with me everywhere and I use it for everything. So convenient! I also have AirPods Max and a smaller version of them. I used to wear them to the gym or just take them with me if I needed them. They have a lot of cool features and are so nice to use!
Sweeney: What do you think about their marketing?
Anastasiia: It’s a great question! They emphasize simplicity, innovation, and lifestyle. Not just features. The ads are often minimalist but memorable, and they also try to focus on how the product can change your life, not just what it does.
Sweeney: What aspects of their marketing do you think work well?
Anastasiia: The first one I would say is status and exclusivity. Apple makes you feel that if you own their products, you are in a different category. The emotional part is also important; in their ads, Apple tells you a story, making you feel emotions through watching.
And the last one I would say is their brand consistency – the way they present it with the same tone, colors, and look. So special.
Sweeney: Thank you, Anastasiia! And the last question. What could the brand improve on, if anything?
Anastasiia: That’s a really hard one! But I think Apple could improve their innovations. What I mean is, I would rather have updates less frequently but with more upgrades and creativity, rather than having them often but almost the same, even though they are adding some new features.
Also, what upsets me a lot is pricing. When you pay JUST for the product. When you buy, for example, a phone, you probably want some accessories to go with it. Back in the 2010s, it came with wired headphones and everything else, but now you cannot even get a charger, which is so sad because it’s not going to work without it, so it’s an important part.
Sweeney: Thank you, Anastasiia, for sharing your thoughts with us! It was really nice to hear your answers and opinions about it.
Anastasiia: Of course, thank you for having me!
As we can see, technology plays a crucial role in our everyday lives, offering convenience and connectivity through different devices. It combines features that make everyday tasks faster and easier. So, we are so lucky to have it in our lives! But sometimes, do not forget to put your device away, look around, and just appreciate the things we have today. Stay safe!
