Job Description
The assistant account executive (AAE) is an entry-level position that reports directly to one or more assigned account leads and serves as the administrative and project management backbone of the account team, assisting with project development, implementation, results measurement and reporting for one or more clients under the guidance and supervision of the account leads. You will provide essential support in managing client accounts and ensuring client satisfaction as you begin to build a career in account management.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research on industries, markets, competitors, media/journalists, influencers and target audiences to support strategic planning and campaign development
- Support for publicity and media relations implementation, including: build and maintain media databases, research journalists, support development and distribution of press releases, pitches and media alerts, support development of opinion editorials and messaging and track media coverage results
- Create social media content calendars, draft copy and provide graphic suggestions
- Develop copy for marketing campaigns, including website pages, landing pages, advertising, presentation decks, brochures, blogs and more
- Incorporate client and account team directives and feedback into content
- Support account teams with client communications and project coordination
- Utilize AI and emerging marketing technologies to support content development, research, campaign execution and results tracking and analysis
- Coordinate with creative team on design projects
- Monitor effectiveness of campaigns and create monthly and quarterly reports for clients’ earned media, social media, website, email marketing and advertising
- Become immersed in clients’ industries, business goals and market challenges
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong general communications skills — routinely and effectively communicating with associates, clients and vendor partners in person, via email, video conferencing, email and digital project management platforms
- Strong writing, editing and proofreading skillset with the ability to adapt messaging for multiple industries, target audiences and communication channels
- Experience supporting publicity and media relations initiatives
- Experience managing social media accounts or creating social media content that drives engagement
- Excellent interpersonal communication skillset and ability to work effectively in teams
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and adapt quickly to changing priorities
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations or a related field
- Some post-graduate experience preferred; internship and agency experience ideal
- Self-starter who takes ownership of assigned projects and follows through to completion
- Keen attention to detail
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and achieving client objectives
- Ideally located in NC, OH or MD, but open to other locations; candidate needs to be willing to work EST hours
