Website Design Considerations

Following are some key questions you should ask as it relates to your website design:
1. Are the fonts I use in my marketing and branding materials optimized for the web? If not, what font is similar so I can ensure it is displayed across all browsers?
2. Is my website going to feature a responsive web design? Responsive web design is an approach that ensures easy reading and navigation with minimum resizing, panning and scrolling across a wide range of devices (from various computer monitor sizes to mobile phones and tablets). At the very least, ensure your website is mobile-ready.
3. If you plan to handle website updates on your own, ensure the website is built with a easy-to-use content management system. For example, WordPress or Joomla.
4. Ensure your website will utilize an analytics platform such as Google Analytics. This will help understand how successful your website is at communicating your services, who is coming to your website and how are they getting there – and much, much more.
5. Using keywords and SEO optimized copy is important to gain exposure for your website. Run a keyword report to help identify terms you should be optimizing. While we do not recommend that website copy be based solely on keywords, it should certainly incorporate them here and there. This should be easy if the message you are communicating aligns with the services and searches people conduct to find your services. It does not have to be forced.
